Spondyloarthritis Research Consortium of Canada (SPARCC) enthesitis measure SPARCC was developed as a measure for enthesitis in spondyloarthritis in general. SPARCC evaluates 16 entheseal sites for presence or absence of tenderness: • supraspinatus insertion into the greater tuberosity of the humerus • medial and lateral epicondyles • patellar tendon insertion at the base of the patella • quadriceps insertion into the superior border of the patella - the inferior patella and tibial tuberosity are considered 1 site because of their anatomical proximity for scoring purposes • bilateral Achilles tendons • plantar fascia insertion at the calcaneus Overall score 0–16. Higher score represents greater enthesitis burden. * In view of high general sensitivity to touch in patients with fbromyalgia, clinical evaluation of enthesopathy is not reliable in patients with fbromyalgia.
