Axial Spondylarthritis - Assessment of Disease Activity Axial spondyloarthritis (SpA) includes ankylosing spondylitis (AS), radiographic axial spondyloarthritis, and nonradiographic axial spondyloarthritis. The treatment target for axial SpA is remission or low disease activity. Disease activity measures Bath Ankylosing Spondylitis Disease Activity Index (BASDAI) The BASDAI is an instrument for the assessment of disease activity that is presented in a questionnaire format/patient-reported outcome measure. BASDAI is based on six questions (Q), each scored from 0 to 10. BASDAI score = (Q1 + Q2 + Q3 + Q4 + (Q5 + Q6)/2) / 5 The total BASDAI score ranges from 0 to 10 points. A BASDAI score of ≥4 (on a scale of 0 to 10) is indicative of active disease. BASDAI score is used in clinical practice and clinical trials.
